The Piedmont Gunsmithing Association is open to all students enrolled in the Gunsmithing program at Piedmont Community College. Honorary membership is granted to each association member in good standing upon his or her graduation and extends for life. Honorary membership, other than alumni, must be sponsored by a member in good standing and approved by two-thirds majority vote. The purposes of the Piedmont Gunsmithing Association are:

1. To promote academic excellence and quality workmanship while improving and expanding knowledge of gunsmithing field.
2. To affiliate with national organizations of professionals in the fire arms industry.
3. To communicate with other students and professional groups.
4. To increase occupational opportunities for Piedmont Gunsmithing Association members involved in gunsmithing and related areas.
