This prestigious award is given to one police officer, firefighter, EMS, chaplain, and dispatcher in the State of North Carolina each year.

Everett serves in many roles in our community, including Lieutenant Paramedic at Person County EMS, Fire Chief for Providence Fire & Rescue, and Fire Training Coordinator in Caswell County for Piedmont Community College (PCC).

The award was presented by the Emergency Chaplains at their “Hometown Heroes” banquet that is hosted each year to honor first responders who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

As the award was presented, guests heard the following comments, “Everett’s positive attitude affects everyone around him at EMS where he is known for his competent leadership, kindness, and compassion.” During a serious vehicular accident in May, “Lt. Everett, serving as Shift Supervisor, triaged the scene and arranged for EMS units to treat and transport patients, ensuring that the most critically injured received the quickest care possible. A true leader, Lt. Everett is quick to give full credit for the lives saved that day to the Paramedics and EMTs on his shift and not himself.”

Everett is also imperative in first responder training as PCC's Fire Training Coordinator in Caswell County. In this position he coordinates with nearby fire chiefs and training officers to determine training opportunities for their departments. He also organizes all fire training and EMS continuing education for the 10 Volunteer Fire Departments in Caswell County.
