Piedmont Community College will offer multiple Nurse Aid Level 1 classes and Nurse Aid Refresher classes this spring.

Nurse Aid Level I
The Nurse Aide I training program prepares students to provide personal care and perform basic nursing skills for the elderly and other adults. Upon successful completion of this course, a student will be eligible to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Competency Examination. The successful completion of the written and skills exam is required for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Individuals must be listed on the Nurse Aide Registry to fulfill employment requirements in the health care industry as a Nurse Aide I in North Carolina.

The Nurse Aide I course consists of theory and a clinical experience in an assisted living or long-term care facility. The course is 112 hours of in-class lecture and lab (theory component) and 48 hours of mandatory clinical rotation.

Nurse Aide I are offered in Caswell County starting Jan. 11, Jan. 22, Jan. 25, and March 14. Registration is $188 plus supplies, such as a textbook, uniform, and stethoscope.

Nurse Aid Refresher
Students whose listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry has expired are encouraged to take the Nurse Aid Refresher class at PCC. This is also available for students who are listed in other states and wish to be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry.

This 40 hour course provides a review and update of the proper techniques for providing personal care and basic nursing skills. Upon the successful completion of this refresher course and the state competency evaluation, students are eligible for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.

Classes will be offered on the Caswell County Campus, Mon. – Thurs, Jan. 16-27, 1 – 5 p.m. The Person County Campus course will be held Mon. and Thurs, Feb. 8 – March 10, 5 – 9 p.m. Registration is $125 plus fees and supplies. The State board exam fee should be paid on the last day of class.
