) is a portable credential that shows employers that an individual has the basic skills necessary to be successful in a particular job. Individuals who earn a NC CRC are automatically eligible for the National Career Readiness Certificate, which is recognized across state borders. Since the CRC accurately indicates whether a job candidate has the skills required to be trained in a new career, the CRC can be more meaningful to employers than a high school degree or a resume citing experience in a different job setting.
To earn a CRC, individuals take WorkKeys® assessments in three major areas: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Locating Information. An individual’s test performance determines whether a bronze, silver, or gold certificate is earned. The higher the certificate level earned, the more jobs the recipient is qualified to perform.
