EMS Education

Students are taught basic and advanced life support skills necessary to meet the challenges associated with the first response to medical and traumatic emergencies in the pre-hospital setting. Courses offered are Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, and Paramedic. Students who successfully complete each course are eligible to take the appropriate North Carolina State Exam to become certified at that level.

Firefighter Education

Firefighter Education classes are tailored to a fire or rescue department’s need to help them perform their job more effectively and efficiently. Training for certification is offered in Firefighter; Emergency Vehicle Operations; Driver Operator Pump Operations; Hazardous Material Responder; Fire Life Safety Educator I, II, and II; and Technical Rescuer. Classes are taught throughout Person and Caswell County at the local fire departments.

Law Enforcement Education

In-Service training is tailored to fit the needs of local and area law enforcement agencies and the North Carolina Department of Correction on an annual basis. Classes are also offered for individuals seeking certification as a Detention Officer.

Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET)

For individuals who wish to seek employment in law enforcement but have no experience. The course is comprised of 36 separate blocks of instruction, practical exercises, and an extensive ethics section that is woven throughout the training experience. The course concludes with a comprehensive written exam and skills testing. To be eligible to enroll, an individual must be a US citizen, at least 20 years of age, have completed high school or obtained a GED®, and pass a reading comprehension test with a minimum of a 10th grade reading level. Other admission criteria also apply.
