Students are taught how to administer basic CPR on infants, children and adults through practical applications using special mannequins per the guidelines of the American Heart Association.
CPR for Health Care Providers
Individuals who are currently employed or are seeking employment in the health care industry must complete a Health Care Provider CPR course. This American Heart Association course fulfills the CPR course requirement.
Nurse Aide Level I
Students are taught the proper techniques for providing personal care and basic nursing skills in the health care setting as a Nurse Aide I. Students are eligible for listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry upon their successful completion of the course and competency evaluation. www.ncnar.org
Nurse Aide Level I Refresher
Students whose listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry has expired within the past 3 years or who is currently certified in another state and seeks listing on the N.C. Nurse Aide I Registry are eligible to enroll in this 40 hour course. The course provides a review and update of the proper techniques for providing personal care and basic nursing skills. Upon the successful completion of this refresher course and the state competency evaluation, students are eligible for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry. www.ncnar.org
Nurse Aide Level II
Students are taught to perform more complex skills for patients/residents. Upon completion, students are eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II by the NC Board of Nursing. Students must be a high school graduate or have a GED®. PRE-REQUISITE: Listed in NC as a Nursing Assistant I. www.ncbon.org
Students are taught how to properly prepare and administer medications to patients in nursing homes. The course is open to students who are currently certified as a Nurse Aide I. Students are eligible for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry upon their successful completion of the course and competency evaluation. www.ncnar.org
Students are taught how to properly prepare and administer medications in adult care homes such as assisted living facilities, group homes, and home health care agencies. Students are eligible for listing on the North Carolina Adult Care Medication Aide Listing upon their successful completion of the course and competency evaluation. www.ncdhhs.gov/dhsr/acls
Students are taught how to read and interpret basic cardiac rhythm strips. Individuals who are employed in the medical field as well as students who have no medical background may enroll in this course.
