Piedmont Community College is a contractor with the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments
for Workforce Development, which serves a six county service delivery area: Caswell, Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance and Warren. The College’s Human Resources Development (HRD) program provides a variety of services through its partnership with Kerr-Tar:
Rapid Response Services:
The College participates in the state-coordinated rapid response effort to ensure the full range of services is available to individuals facing the loss of their jobs. HRD staff members specialize in connecting recently displaced workers to resources for up-grading their skills and re-entering the workforce. When companies report a significant lay-off or plant closing, PCC typically hosts an open house for the company’s employees to provide information about the services available through the College’s HRD program. By providing career counseling, free classes, and a sympathetic ear, the HRD program helps displaced workers reduce the negative impact of their loss of employment through the development of individualized plans of action and job search strategies.
JobLink Career Centers:
The College participates in North Carolina’s JobLink Career Center system
of delivery for workforce development. HRD staff is stationed at the Person JobLink Career Center Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings to provide information and counseling regarding career change opportunities and job search techniques. The College hosts the Caswell JobLink Career Center on the Caswell County Campus of Piedmont Community College. The Caswell JobLink Career Center is the only Level II Center in the Kerr-Tar Region.
Recruiting and Screening for Employers:
PCC’s HRD staff stands ready to assist local employers in recruiting potential employees. The HRD program assists approximately 1,800 students each year in gaining the skills necessary to successfully obtain employment in the local labor market. Local employers seeking qualified employees need only contact HRD to benefit from this substantial applicant pool.
