(Q.) How do I get a copy of my PCC transcript?
(A.) You must submit a written request for a copy of your PCC transcript, being sure to include your signature. Mail your request to Piedmont Community College, Student Development Office, PO Box 1197, Roxboro, NC 27573 or you may fax your written request to the PCC Student Development Office at (336) 598-9283.
You may receive the first copy of your transcript for free. Additional or subsequent copies are $3 each. Send payment in the form of a check or money order to Piedmont Community College. You also may pay by credit or debit card by calling the PCC Business Office at (336) 599-1181, ext. 232.
(Q) What is the name of your Admissions Placement Test?
(A) ASSET and COMPASS are the names of our Admission Placement Tests. ASSET is the written version and COMPASS is the computerized version. Our placement program is designed to help you succeed in your studies while at Piedmont Community College. Prior to enrolling in a program of study or a class, you will be assessed on reading, writing and math skills. This information will enable your advisor to help you select the classes where you can be most successful.
(Q) Who takes ASSET/COMPASS?
(A) If you are entering a curriculum, you must take ASSET/COMPASS unless exempt for the following reason: you have already earned college credit in English and math.
(Q) What if I fail ASSET/COMPASS?
(A) You can not fail ASSET/COMPASS. Your scores will indicate your strengths and needs in relation to the required courses in your chosen program of study. ASSET/COMPASS helps your advisor select the best classes for your needs.
(Q) What does ASSET/COMPASS cost?
(A) There is no charge.
(Q) When should I complete the ASSET/COMPASS Placement Testing?
(A) You will benefit most by having your ASSET/COMPASS Placement Test prior to scheduling your first class.
(Q) What is Financial Aid?
(A) Financial Aid is money that helps pay for college tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous living expenses.
(Q) If I am divorced and have remarried, will my spouse's income be considered in determining eligibility for a dependent student?
(A) Yes, the new spouse's income is still part of the household income and will normally be considered when determining eligibility for a dependent student.
(Q) How do I know if my son or daughter is independent for Financial Aid purposes?
(A) Normally, only students 24 years of age or older are automatically considered independent. Married students, students with legal dependents of their own, wards of the court, and students who have served in the military are also considered independent.
