What are the Opportunities for Giving?
Scholarships
With over 50% of Piedmont Community College’s student body applying for or receiving some type of financial assistance, scholarships make a college education possible for a number of students.
Scholarships are available through a wide range of categories, including need-based; academic-based; endowed scholarships; Student Ambassador Program; Student Incentive Grants.
Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards
It is the opinion of the Foundation that recognition of and promotion of excellence among faculty and staff are essential. Since 2000, excellence in teaching awards have been presented annually to selected faculty members ($3,000/faculty member). For 2004-2005 academic year Staff Excellence Awards will be presented in two categories ($1,500/award).
Professional Development
Faculty and staff of Piedmont Community College require special training and continuing education. The Foundation recognizes the importance of this continued professional development. Opportunities here include annual support for faculty and staff seeking to earn their first terminal degree, diploma or certificate.
Operational and Program Support
Historically, support donations have been used for equipment deemed necessary to enhance the mission of the College. For example, the science labs were funded on the Person County Campus. And the Library of the 21st century on the Caswell Campus received funding. Each year, the Foundation receives numerous requests for assistance in improving existing programs or to start new curriculum programs.
